Obstetrics

Obstetric care is all about taking care of women before, during, and after pregnancy. At Mainline Health, obstetric care includes check-ups, monitoring the health of both the mother and the baby, ultrasound, routine lab work, other diagnostic testing deemed necessary by your provider, and providing support and guidance throughout the entire process. Our Women’s Health specialists work closely with expectant mothers to ensure a safe and healthy pregnancy. They provide prenatal care to monitor the progress of the pregnancy, offer advice on nutrition and exercise, and address any concerns or complications that may arise. After childbirth, they continue to provide postpartum care to monitor recovery and address any issues or concerns that may follow. Obstetric care is essential for ensuring the health and well-being of both mother and child throughout the entire journey of motherhood.

Access to Care

Maternal Health OB Case Management

Here at Mainline Health, the Obstetric (OB) Case Manager will oversee the coordination of healthcare services provided to you before, during, and after childbirth. The primary goal of OB case management is to offer educational information and to ensure the optimal health and well-being of both the mother and the baby throughout the pregnancy and postpartum period.

Prenatal Classes

Prenatal classes will be offered the second Wednesday of every month at Baptist Health - Drew County from 2:00 – 5:00 PM located in Monticello, AR. These classes will cover: stages of labor, true vs. false labor, C-section delivery, medications and anesthesia during labor, postpartum care, and infant care. Tours of the Labor & Delivery suites are also available upon request.

Maternal Health Community Health Worker (CHW)

Maternal health community health workers play a crucial role in reducing maternal mortality and improving maternal and child health outcomes, particularly in resource-constrained settings where access to healthcare services is limited. Here at Mainline Health, every new mom will have access to CHW services including:

  • Resource guidance: The CHW may assist with any resources and support that is needed. Resource/referral information may include: information on how to get a car seat, prenatal and infant education classes, assistance with getting baby essentials, and so much more.
  • Outreach and enrollment: To ensure access to care, the CHW may assist with enrollment for Medicaid insurance and WIC services.
  • Transportation assistance: If you are unable to get to your appointments, we provide access to transportation services to and from our clinics through SEAT (Southeast Arkansas Transportation).
  • Optional home visits: During each trimester and for up to TWO (2) years post-partum, the CHW may provide a home visit if needed to do a “check-in” with mom and baby for additional support.
  • Ongoing care coordination: Services will be provided as additional consultations to resources, referral needs, and support groups led by the OB Case Manager and the CHW throughout the pregnancy and up to TWO (2) years post-partum.
  • Social determinants of health screening: This is to indicate any social or emotional insecurity concerns.

Labor and Delivery

If you choose Mainline Health as your OB/GYN provider location, you will deliver at Baptist Health – Drew County. The facilities are second to none. The Labor & Delivery unit and the Olivia Faith Beebe Nursery opened in June of 2018. Tours of both areas are available to prospective patients and are part of the Childbirth Class curriculum. The large delivery rooms have private baths with showers. They are equipped with the incubators, scales, and other vital equipment needed for single, twin, and triplet births, allowing babies to “room in,” or remain with their mother as much as possible. The nursery has a secure entry, public viewing window, and state-of-the-art resources for their youngest patients. A nearby waiting area allows plenty of space for excited loved ones to gather. After initial recovery, mothers and babies will continue to be monitored on the adjacent post-partum floor.
