Mainline Health Highlights - November 2026

A Message for November: Health, Gratitude, and Wellness

As we enter the season of gratitude, November offers a reminder to focus on both our physical and emotional well-being. Taking time to appreciate the people, experiences, and blessings in our lives can have a positive impact on overall health, reducing stress and supporting mental wellness.

This month, we also recognize National Diabetes Awareness Month, a time to raise awareness about diabetes prevention, management, and the importance of regular health screenings.

💙 November is National Diabetes Awareness Month

More than 38 million Americans live with diabetes, and many others may be at risk without realizing it.

Knowing your numbers is an important first step toward preventing or managing diabetes.

Risk factors can include:
  • Family history of diabetes
  • Being overweight or obese
  • Physical inactivity
  • High blood pressure
  • Age 45 and older
  • History of gestational diabetes
Small Steps Make a Big Difference
  • Schedule regular checkups
  • Eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains
  • Stay physically active
  • Monitor blood sugar as recommended by your provider
  • Take medications as prescribed

Talk with your Mainline Health provider about diabetes screening and management options that are right for you, and ask about our Diabetes Education program.

🍂 The Health Benefits of Practicing Gratitude

Gratitude isn't just good for the soul. Research shows it can benefit your health as well.

Practicing gratitude may:
  • Improve mood and emotional well-being
  • Reduce stress and anxiety
  • Support better sleep
  • Strengthen relationships
  • Help foster a more positive outlook
Simple Ways to Practice Gratitude
  • Keep a gratitude journal
  • Share appreciation with family and friends
  • Reflect on three positive things each day
  • Write a thank-you note
  • Volunteer or help someone in need

Even small moments of gratitude can make a meaningful difference.

🛡️ Protect Yourself from Seasonal Illness

Colder weather often brings an increase in colds, flu, and other respiratory illnesses. Protect yourself and your loved ones with a few simple habits:

Stay Up to Date on Vaccinations
Talk with your provider about:

Annual flu vaccine
COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters
Other recommended immunizations

Wash Your Hands Frequently
Wash with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially:
  • Before eating
  • After using the restroom
  • After coughing or sneezing
  • After being in public places
  • Stay Home When You're Sick

Getting plenty of rest helps your recovery while reducing the spread of illness to others.

🍎 Healthy Habits That Support Your Immune System

While no supplement can guarantee you won't get sick, healthy lifestyle choices can help your immune system function at its best.

Prioritize Sleep

Adults should aim for 7-9 hours of sleep each night.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water throughout the day to support overall health and bodily functions.

Eat Nutrient-Rich Foods

Focus on:

  • Fruits and vegetables
  • Lean proteins
  • Whole grains
  • Healthy fats
  • Keep Moving
Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate physical activity each week.
Manage Stress

Consider:

  • Prayer or meditation
  • Deep breathing exercises
  • Spending time outdoors
  • Connecting with loved ones
