Over the span of three years, MHSI will be addressing community needs in the Chicot County area. With the help of joint partners, they hope to implement a community care coordination plan to tackle areas of concern that may impact health outcomes.
Last Wednesday in Lake Village, Mainline Health Systems Inc. (MHSI) hosted their very first Community Connect Event in collaboration with the National Rural Health Resource Center, as part of the Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program. Community members gathered to discuss their BIG question of the day, “How can Mainline Health Systems Inc. connect with the community, build trust, and address concerns?”
With the support of the Delta Regional Authority (DRA) and the Health Resources Services Administration’sFederal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP), The National Rural Health Resource Center (The Center) provides selected rural Delta hospitals, clinics and their communities with technical assistance through the Delta Region Community Health Systems Development (DRCHSD) Program. The purpose of the DRCHSD Program is to assist leaders and providers in identifying and addressing social aspects and health care needs of the community to strengthen the local health care system. A few of these aspects include education, food security, housing, social support, and access to healthcare. Research has shown that if these social needs are satisfied, people are more likely to have positive health outcomes. MHSI is just getting started with efforts to improve their healthcare delivery system. They are optimistic that this program will be a steppingstone for a healthier future in Chicot County.
If you are a Chicot County resident and would like to participate in a quick community-wide survey, we’d love to hear from you! We need your help! We desire the feedback of our community. This assessment will be focused on community health, with some additional questions related to telehealth and marketing, and will gather the concerns and priorities of community members. The responses will be used to guide a priority action planning event with joint partners and marketing efforts of the clinic. It shouldn’t take more than 5-10 minutes to complete.
